We Were Brought Into Existence Because We Were Needed

The Origin of Evil?

Danger lay ahead. A principle was to be introduced in the creation that God was to bring forth which would challenge God’s government to its very core. Sin was to bring a disruption onto the creation that would threaten the peace and existence of all things, ultimately the existence of God Himself. In His wisdom, the Infinite Jehovah saw the coming conflict between good and evil, and made ample provision to meet it. In His divine acumen, He made our existence pertinent to His solution for sin. We are part of a divine and premeditated plan to rid existence of the most destructive principle ever to exist. Luther stood in his lot and did his part. So did Moses, so did James White, and so did all of God’s faithful people. Here it is we have arrived at that final epoch of man’s history. Here it is that the victories of the past have been passed down to us. Here it is that the baton is in our hands and the race is final. The preservation of God’s true Word, and truth, has been accorded us drenched in sacrifice and blood. Never was so much owed by so many to so few. Shall we then in imprudence and neglect let our fore-brethren down? Shall we not stand under the banner of prince Emmanuel and lavish His throne with our exploits? This is not just an invitation to a study thought, rather this is a call to arms. Behold, the enemy is at the gates and we all are to man our positions. Stand ye in your lots, and be faithful to that gracious King that shed royal blood for your and my redemption.

“ We were brought into existence because we were needed.” {PH004 28.1}

Continuing we hear more from the heart of Christ:

“And it is a sad thought that if we stand on the wrong side, in the ranks of the enemy, we are lost to the design of our creation” {ibid}

All creation has its design, its lot, wherein it is to practice with the utmost efficiency, fidelity toward the principles and government of God. Trees for example, take in carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. All creation receives in order to give. The faithful employment and improvement of all our gifts and talents in the work of saving souls is our lot. Thus the heading of the pamphlet wherein we find that enervating statement by Mrs. White is titled ‘An appeal for missions’.

Yet more from the heart of our Lord we read:

“We are disappointing our Redeemer; the powers he designs for his service are used to oppose his grace and matchless love. This thought should be sufficient to keep us ever humble” - {ibid}

And so the call comes even more clearer:

(Mar 12:29 KJV) And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
(Mar 12:30 KJV) And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

In essence, we do not have enough time to brood over our difficulties. This is a time when God is developing a people that will be heaven’s pride. "The great work of the gospel is not to close with less manifestation of the power of God than marked its opening.’ [1] We are to love and serve God with all we have. It is in the rejection of this call that sin first came into existence. It was in the employment of God-given gifts and talents for selfish ends that sin and its fruit, death, came into God's universe. From the respected Mr. Alonzo T. Jones we read concerning Lucifer:

“This exalted one did choose to exalt himself out of his place, did choose to exercise his faculties and powers contrary to the will of God and outside the design of God. And this was the origin of evil.” - {Empires of the Bible, pg xi.3}
