REFLECTIONS ON TIME

Time. What is time? I define time as the unit measurement of existence. Time is as mysterious and as eternal as our Creator. One cannot fully place his finger on it, but as “the wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth” (John 3:8) so is time.
Time is a continuum punctuated by events. We look back at the events we’ve had, good or ill, and wonder what we might have been without them. These events directed us to make a choice at every event, and our choices built our personalities and probably caused certain other future situations. The cycle is never ending. Cause - Effect - Cause - Effect, with each effect becoming the cause for the next effect. Time wasted is never recovered, so we were taught to say. But time is never truly wasted. At every second we are faced with a choice, an opportunity cost. Every second, we have to choose what to do and what not to do.
Perhaps because we value certain actions more than others we then consider choosing the less valuable actions as lost time. However, whatever actions we value are so valued because of their future capital. Meaning the past has no value, for it can neither be changed nor affect the future, unless we choose in the present to allow it. Therefore in a true sense, time can never be wasted. Whether good or ill, the past is in-erasable.
Let us learn from the ill, lessons meet for valuable future choices. And let us treasure the good in precious memories, Joy, love, kindness, hope. Let us rediscover our childhood innocence. Let us become that gentle, insecure child inside our eyes that whoever loves us must discover. Let us remember that time on this side of eternity is limited and let us apply ourselves heartily, from the bottom of our bottomless hearts, to the future in the present. Let us live life so genuinely that when our time comes to die, we will not fear or cry for more time. We will bravely lay to rest, ready to go home. Happy 2020!
